Local Bus Operator Uno Drives Change with Earth Day Initiative
22/04/2026
In celebration of Earth Day, Uno, the bus operator for University of Hertfordshire staff and students and the local community, has brought together staff for a litter picking event as they venture out of the depot in an effort to clean up the community and raise awareness for sustainable travel.
The initiative took place around Hatfield, Hertfordshire, where participants worked to remove litter from bus stops and green spaces. The event reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and community engagement.
“Earth Day is an important opportunity for us here at Uno.” Said a spokesperson for the company. “We are proud to be able to come together to do our bit for the community and help do our bit to contribute towards a cleaner and greener environment for everyone.”
The initiative comes ahead of the company’s launch of its electric bus fleet later this year. While the primary benefit of electric-powered buses is the delivery of cleaner air, it also enhances the passenger experience with a smoother, more comfortable ride. The buses are also quieter, which helps to make a better experience for both customers and the wider community by significantly reducing noise pollution.
