Watford has something for everyone, and is easy to get to on Uno routes 602 or 635. There are some great independent shops alongside the big High Street names, and a huge choice of places to grab a bite to eat or a few coffees.
If you’re after a bit of retail therapy, try Intu Watford – one of the region’s largest indoor shopping destinations, right in the town centre. Inside you’ll find nearly 120 different stores, a nine-screen cinema, bowling alley and lots of restaurants. In Watford’s High Street there’s lots of choice – and a variety of events are held throughout the year. And for something a little different, enjoy a wonder around Watford’s market – created from 42 shipping containers with food, clothing, jewellery and more.
A small walk from the town centre you’ll find Cassiobury Park – recently voted one of the UK’s top 10 parks. There’s something for all the family here, with a splash pool, water features, several playgrounds for children of different ages and a bandstand. Or just enjoy a meandering walk through the parkland – relaxing whatever the season. And don’t miss a ride on Watford’s very own miniature railway – next to the paddling pools, and open all year round (check website for times) for a charming ride through the woodland.
When you’re in need of a break, Watford has plenty of coffee shops for a quiet pause – the D20 Board Game Café (Queens Road) and the LP Café (The Parade) are among our favourites. And you’ll be spoilt for choice for lunch too – Five Guys, Nandos, Pizza Express and Wagamamas are just some of the many top places to enjoy food with friends.
